The Eynsford Model Helicopter Club (EMHC) welcomed members and visitors on 7th September 2025 for its annual Scale Day, showcasing some of the fine scale helicopters.
Despite an unfavourable weather forecast, which kept a few regular attendees away, the day proved far brighter than predicted. Blue skies and a lively easterly breeze provided challenging but manageable conditions for the pilots who braved the elements.
A relaxed and friendly atmosphere prevailed throughout, with spectators treated to a superb display of meticulously crafted aircraft.
The club’s traditional barbecue ensured everyone remained well-fed and energised for the day’s flying.

The blustery conditions made precision flying a test of skill, and the pilots did not disappoint. Expert flying was on display all day, demonstrating the dedication and talent of the scale community.
Trophies were awarded across four categories: Best Civilian, Best Military, Best Flown, and Best Static. Judging was by peer vote, with all attendees casting their ballots. Given the exceptional quality of the models on show, choosing winners was no easy task.
The results were as follows:
- Best Civilian: Gary Crawford – Robinson R22
- Best Military: Marvin Kudzua – Eurocopter Tiger UHT
- Best Flown: Alan Parris – Bell 47G
- Best Static: Alan Parris – Australian Navy Sea King

A special highlight of the day was the arrival of Kevin Longurst in his full-scale Enstrom 280FX Shark helicopter, much to the delight of pilots and spectators alike.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, combining friendly competition, expert flying, and a celebration of scale modelling at its finest. EMHC’s Scale Day continues to be an event of note for Scale pilots and enthusiasts, and we are already planning for next year’s event.
