The SE BMFA Chair Stuart Willis has issued this latest update regarding Itford Hill –
I have been contacted by a couple of area clubs that have been informed that flying at Itford Hill is prohibited by the land owner, and they must stop flying on the hill. I have looked in to this and as the land is “Open Access land” no such restrictions exist. I have written to the landowner asking him to explain why flying is prohibited on the hill. He has yet to reply, but has confirmed he received my email.
Fliers should carry on flying as normal on the hill until such time as I know any further information.
Should you be asked to stop flying then politely say there is no restriction on flying on the hill. Should the situation becomes heated or confrontational then I would suggest you stop flying and return another time. I will update members once I have a clearer picture.
