The Hastings Model Aircraft Club kindly hosted this year’s BMFA South East Area Scale Comp at their Pevensey site.
Having had to postpone the first date for this year’s event due to bad weather, we were lucky this time with a decent weather forecast which was a blessing as we cancelled two dates last year and had to re-engrave the trophies for 2025.
On the day there was an annoying little cross-wind that discouraged some attendees from flying. This was a shame because one of the very few rules for this comp demand that the model must have flown to be considered as an entry in the competition.
At one point there were over 40 models on view in the pits area which was a bit of a record based on previous competitions.
The scratch/kit built, jets and helicopter models were judged by Robert Richardson and Kevin Powling. The ARTF were judged by all the pilots voting for their favourite model.

It was agreed by all that it was a great day. Thanks go to the sterling work by Malcolm Bull and Steve (aka Hobby King) Taylor on the BBQ and to the SE BMFA for paying for the hot drinks. Also thanks to those members who oversaw the smooth running of the flying slots.
All this great effort helped to make it a memorable occasion.
Let’s hope next year will be as good.
